Logic Forte calculates Labor Cost for Micros POS from individual Employee Time Clock records.
NOTE: We do not use the Labor Cost shown on the Micros DSR because the Labor amounts are usually incorrect the first time we download the DSR. For example, we polled a Micros DSR that showed incorrect Labor Cost of $802.92 (23.16%). When we downloaded the same Micros DSR again at a later time, the Micros report showed correct Labor Cost of $769.67 (22.20%).
This article describes common reasons for discrepancies in Labor Cost when comparing Logic Forte reports to Micros reports.
Rounding Discrepancies
Logic Forte sums total seconds worked during the time period to calculate total Labor Cost for each employee during the time period.
Micros sums total hours worked per day (rounded to the hundredth 0.01) to calculate daily Labor Cost for each employee, then sums the daily Labor Cost for each employee to calculate total Labor Cost for each employee during the time period.
This difference in rounding methods will cause a minor Labor discrepancy. For example, Logic Forte may calculate labor of $769.36 (22.19%) when Micros shows $769.67 (22.20%). Our rounding method is considered more accurate. We can discuss adjusting our rounding method to match your actual payroll rounding method (e.g. total time worked per pay period, sum of time worked per day, etc) so that our Labor Cost reflects your actual Payroll Cost. Logic Forte Labor Cost should be within +/- 0.05% of Micros Labor Cost.
Manager Labor Discrepancies
If you are seeing large Labor discrepancies (e.g. Logic Forte Labor is higher than Micros Labor by $50-$150/day), the Logic Forte reports most likely include Manager Labor.
You can confirm this by comparing Logic Forte "Payroll Timeclock" report to a Micros "Employee Time Card Detail" report for the same location(s) and date range. If this is the cause of the discrepancy, the Micros report will show the manager hours with a $0.00 pay and the Logic Forte report will show the manager hours with a NON-ZERO pay.
You can resolve this discrepancy by adjusting your manager pay rate to $0.00 in Micros POS. Future reports from Logic Forte will show $0.00 pay for that manager. We can help you exclude manager labor from our reports if you need to track a NON-ZERO pay rate in Micros POS.
